The recent arrest of dozens of innocent Southern Azerbaijani Turks by the undemocratic Persian Iranian regime has created an agonizing atmosphere both within Southern Azerbaijan and other areas of the world. Azerbaijani Turks all over the world are in sorrow. It is painful to see their brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers get arrested by the security and intelligence forces (Ettelaat) of the dictatorial regime. Many Southern Azerbaijani cultural and national activist have been arrested due to their quest for equality in areas of politics, education, human-rights and most importantly, the right to self-determination. The mullah regime is trying its best to stop Southern Azerbaijani human-rights activist, but it must know that fighting against a nation who wants only the rights listed in the Universal Declaration of Human-Rights (UN) is internationally illegal, immoral and it will lead to its destruction soon or later.
The protest was totally peaceful. Azerbaijani Turks, both from S. Azerbaijan and from independent Azerbaijan (North) gathered to show their respect for the arrested S. Azerbaijani Turkish human-rights activists. They wore t-shirts that said “freedom for Southern Azerbaijan” and they raised posters that had pictures of the jailed Southern Azerbaijani Turks and their names. An eleven page report was handed to the vice representative of the United Nations office in Turkey. The report includes crucial details about the jailed activists, for example: name of the activists, times of arrests, condition and etc. The general theme of the protest was the freedom of the jailed Southern Azerbaijani Turks. Protesters also asked for the freedom of Southern Azerbaijan and granting of human-rights for the Southern Azerbaijani Turkish nation.
